First things first: congratulations Indians - a remarkable run!

Unfortunately, the clock struck twelve for the Cinderella Indians.  The Post-Gazette has all the details about North Hills loss to Gateway, 42-20 in the WPIAL Quad A semifinal: Felder rushed for 83 yards and three touchdowns, and Nunley scored on a long touchdown reception and a kickoff return as No. 1 seed Gateway ended the Cinderella run of No. 12 North Hills with a 42-20 victory last night in a WPIAL Class AAAA semifinal at Fox Chapel's James Burk Memorial Field.

The North Hills Indains finished the regular season as a mediocre football team.  However, they are posied to be added to a distinguished litany of games that will be talked about for years to come.

Mike White of the Post Gazette takes a look at some of the more memorable and improbabl championship runs in the WPIALL footall playoffs.  White mentions the North Hills Indians 1982 team in particular:

North Hills finished 6-4 in the regular season, upset Connellsville, 14-0, in the first round of the playoffs and then faced a North Allegheny team that had allowed only one touchdown all season -- to North Hills in the regular-season finale.

North Hills would go on to caputre the championship that year with a 9-0 win over Butler at Pitt stadium.  Can magic happen again?

If you belileve what the Post-Gazette "Fumbler" has to say, the Indians have no chance:

Gateway (11-0) vs. North Hills (6-5) at Fox Chapel -- When it comes to North Hills predictions, maybe The Fumbler should stop saying "no way." He said it against McKeesport and then against North Allegheny last week. And North Hills won both. But this time, The Fumbler really means it. NO WAY, NORTH HILLS!

However, The Fumbler was wrong about them last week and can be wrong again!

Where

The Indians will play top-seeded Gateway High School at 7:30 p.m. at Fox Chapel.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Athletics & Activities Office, located in the senior high school. Tickets are $6 for adults or $4 for students. All tickets at the gate are $6.

The game will be broadcast live on WPIT-AM 730.

Congratulations to this years squad of North Hills Indians football squad.  What looked to be a mediocre season with little hope of advancing deep into the WPIAL AAAA playoffs, has turned into something special with their most recent win over rival North Allegheny, a 14-10 shocker at Pine-Richland Friday.

When the teams meet over two weeks ago to cap out the regular season, North Allegheny cruised to an easy 28-3 victory.  There was little to indicate it would be much different Friday.

"I'm not sure what they were doing, but when they scored, they were hitting the one edge on the run play, and we were squeezing in, and they were bouncing it outside, and we should have had everything cancelled out and had somebody overlapped on the inside to make the play," North Allegheny head coach Art Walker said in a interview with the Pittsburgh Tribune Review. "It seemed like when we weren't there, they went outside, and when we overplayed it outside, they went inside."

North Hills will now play top-seeded Gateway in the WPIAL semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 20 at a site to be determined.  The big question now is can the magjic continue?

In case you missed it, the North Hills Indians Sr. High football team pullled off an unlikely victory against McKeesport Friday. The 14th-seeded North Hills Indians upset fifth seed McKeesport 19-7 in the first round of the WPIAL AAAA playoffs.

It is special," North Hills coach Jack McCurry said to the Pittsburgh Tribune Review. "We just came in and tried to play a decent game against (McKeesport). They are so talented. We had to play well and get a couple breaks, and that's what happened."

Now the Indians are faced with perhaps an even greater task. The Indians travel to Pine-Richland stadium Friday to take on rival North Allegheny in a WPIAL Class AAAA quarterfinals showdown. Kick off is at 7:30 PM.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Athletics & Activities Office, located in the senior high school. Tickets are $6 for adults or $4 for students. All tickets at the gate are $6. The game will be broadcasted live on WPIT-AM 730.

The Indians took one on the chin against the rival North Allegheny Tigers Friday night.  Anthony Chiappetta's 23-yard field goal in the third quarter accounted for the only scoring for North Hills, which was out-gained, 262-243.

The Post-Gazette reported that Alex Papson had 20 carries for 156 yards and two touchdowns.  Justin Brozick passed for and ran for touchdowns as the Northern Six Conference champion Tigers (8-1, 5-0) won their sixth in a row. The Indians (4-5, 2-3) lost four of their past five against their bitter rival, but the all time series is tied at 25-25

There is always next year!
